Today, January 22nd, 2011, I added Wolfsburg valve stem caps. Its amazing that $2.99 can add 15 HP and 25 FP Torque.....

LOL!!! I like that homelink you added to your car. It gives it a more luxurious look, I might have to get one and the 3m red tape is a good idea too. Pretty cheap and it gives you the nice matching red theme to the inside of the car. Might have to get me some lol.

3M tail light repair tape. $1.99 at O'Riely's auto parts.

brilliant. I may do this - ghetto, but hidden and cheap as hell. :w00t:

Instead of that super ghetto install, I took the 3M tape and an exacto knife and really made it fit properly. Basically like a red tint lol. I used two layers on each footwell light and it looks really good.

If you put some effort into making the tape look good it's not considered ghetto anymore.

Good call. I did ghetto real quick (didn't see this) about 30mins ago, and I was very happy with it, lol - but I will probably do the double layer and cut like you did. Thanks!

Since it isnt visible unless you have your head in my footwell nobody is going to see it. Ima leave it ghetto for now...till my OCD kicks in and find an overwhelming need to cut to fit.

Looks good. I'd have liked to have gone darker, but ended up playing it safe and going just 5% under legal.

Question: I see that you have painted the negative space red on your rear VW emblem. Did you do that yourself? Know of any DIYs to remove the rear emblem to do the work?

Its not paint. Its a reflective insert, like the side markers, made to fit. Gunther VW in Florida sells them. It has a stupid name - "deck candy" but I still like the inserts. $15 from Gunther.

Thanks. I'd like to paint the insert on mine, so I'm mostly interested in how you disassembled the badge to get to the piece behind the chrome.

jbcritch, where did you get that suit hangar? And it is alwasy in the car or can you easily remove it? It seems like it would be a pain in the ass for anyone sitting behind that seat.

Its a BMW coat hanger - available at their on-line shop or in any dealership. Super easy to remove - one button and pull. My 2 year old sits there, so its not in her way. If no jacket is on it it really is not itself in the way. The jacket would be, but not the hanger....
