Hi guys,

I was originally thinking of not getting the Nav, but now I'm starting to lean towards it. Just need some help deciding. Thanks in advance.

Poll says it all. Are you sorry you bought Nav? Sorry you didn't? Comments are always welcome.

True portables are cheap, However the Nav. unit that comes with the car is anything but cheap. I think its better than some high dollar Nav units out there. Directions are clear, also Directions are visible on the MFD so you don't have to keep the map on screen. Plus the unit comes with a 30GIG hard drive. 20GIG for music and stuff. Sat radio will give you traffic updates on the map screen, so you can check out any delays on your route.
I have a Kenwood NAV on my other car and I like this one better. If you can afford it, you will not regret it.

I just got a 250 dollar garmin..pretty has that all but the huge internal HD. Has some space with an expandable SD slot (or micro).

Lane assist is the best thing ever.

I have a portable Nav, mainly because when I really need it (on business), I am in a rental car, not my own. I spent the extra money elsewhere on the car and the Nav is in the glove compartment for the few times I need it driving around here.

Call me old timer, but I think NAV is pretty useless. Give me a map and I'll get there quicker than NAV will (I've been proven right on this point countless times when my and my wife drive somewhere to meet up friends - 97% of the time, we find a quicker/shorter route.

I considered the NAV, but bought a new Garmin Nuvi in stead. It would be nice to have the NAV in the dash, ready to go at all times, but the VW one has its shortcomings. My understanding it does not pronounce the names of streets as you approach turn points as my Garmin does. And I like the lane changse info and the display for local speed limit. Also, I can use it in the wife's TSX. (If you think $1750 is too much for NAV, try choking on over $3000 for Acura's Technology 'package' in order to get NAV.)

Initially I was all for getting a GTI with the nav unit, but now I beginning to wonder if that $1750 price tag for a nav unit with 20gb audio storage is just a bit too much. I already have a portable nav unit which works very well and have an android phone with Google Nav app.

It's not the greatest navi system, it gets kind of slow when you are inputing a destination and using some other features. My portable garmin is probably faster. With that said I still don't regret getting it. It helps me find gas stations, live traffic, and it's right there I don't have to keep opening my glove compartment, mounting the garmin and waiting for it to get sat reception (yes I know I could've kept the garmin mounted but I didn't like the way it looked).

I plan to keep the car long enough to make the Nav and media unit obsolete. Also, I think the car will outlast the nav unit, and I don't want to have to repair it.

My phone already does NAV, and iPod touches can handle 20+ Gig of music fine. Using these won't be as smooth as in-car nav, but they'll be cheaper and easier to upgrade.

All this made nav a "must not have" option for me.

I got the Nav and I glad I did. It is nice having it built in and there when I need it. A year from now you won't think about the cost and you won't have to regret that you didn't get it.

I love mine, my only complaint of the system is that the iPod controls are slow, but the non-navigation cars have that problem too.
