Oil leak

**Edit - actually attached pictures this time**

Took my 09 mk6 to a garage who noted that spots of oil on the driveway were due to the gearbox being overfilled, which he drained a little (smelt the oil around the lower engine bay to confirm gearbox oil btw). He cleaned the engine bay to track the leak and sure enough, it has shown a greasy component (attached).

It does need a service but in the name of speed, any help to identify this part would be useful. Apologies if I haven't followed policy or not found an existing post on this - total mechanic newbie.

Cheers

J

That's not axle grease being flung around is it ? Oil is coming from where exactly, just see it wet, odd. Is that brake lines?
