Rear lower hard brake lines

Hello! First post here.

Ive been looking around for some answers but couldn’t find much.

Ive been doing a mix of braking and handling upgrades this past spring on my Mk6 Golf R and yesterday I was doing bake lines (old and crusty), fluid and started on a diesel geek superpin upgrade.
While doing the rear brake lines, I already broke one side of the lower hard lines because I thought that the male side was supposed to spin freely like the fronts? Is it not supposed to? If not, how do you replace the rear soft lines?
I’m fairly new at doing my own work on cars, and just looking for some direction. If nothing else, come Monday I’ll ask some of the techs at work (I work in the acct and admin at a strand of dealerships)

Thank you!

Supposed to hold the upper still with a wrench while loosening the fitting on the hard line on the bottom. The fitting on the hard line spins around the hard line, but the soft line the fitting is built in and has to be held in place to loosen the hard line out of it.

I noted this on your photos, you hold that in place while loosening the hard line fitting.
