I had a k04 and long story short elite motors destroyed my engine. It was never the same so I'm just selling what I have left.

But yes, this piece is super handy and doesn't fit the mk7. So my loss your gain

Will the trunk shelf work without the cargo cover? When I bought my GTI, the cargo cover wasnt with the car, so everything in my hatch is exposed through the back window. Will this stay in place without the cover?

It will but you can expect the things in the tray to bounce around/fly out when you hit bumps
