Recommendations for suspension install in bay area?

Aries Pope

Ready to race!
I got DG springs and a full set of anti roll bars to get installed and was looking for a solid installer in the Bay Area. I'm considering Winn or 034, but was wondering if anyone knows a place closer to Santa Clara that would do a good job?

I saw this place precision motorworks in Santa Clara... Anyone ever go there? Looks like they are an APR dealer too.

Speed Element in Fremont if I remember. Great prices and friendly.

GL and let us know who you went with and how everything went ?

I believe a few MK6 fellows here have gone to him with great experience also. I've scheduled an appointment with him this month to get my DG springs installed.

If it helps, I got the following quotes from Julio:

Option A) $250 - Springs Only

Option B) $300 - Springs / Shocks / Struts

Option C) $450 - Springs / Shocks / Struts / Sways

I did not negotiate as local shops will charge similar rates with alignment included. With that said, these guys probably do more GTI jobs than most in the area and travel to meet you at a mutually agree location to complete the work.

LMK where you decide to pull the trigger as I want to also get a similar job done as well.

At those prices, I would rather go to a reputable shop incase anything sour happens and atleast there insured.

He used to be cheaper than that. A local 6 months ago paid 200 for his install. He's a hot commodity now apparently. But I would go to a shop and at least work a deal for an alignment if it'll only cost a little more.

+1 for Sonic. Darwin will take care of you. When I moved from socal to norcal, there's a dearth of aftermarket euro shop selection in comparison, but Sonic stood out and is very well known in the local scene. As a bonus, they have a Hunter alignment system there so you can work out an alignment deal along with your install.

Agreed, use to be cheaper. Furthermore, no receipt in the case something happens.. =x

Thanks for the info! Mountain view is close to work so I can drop it off and bike or get a ride no worries. Ill give sonic a call and see what they say.

Track racer friend said to try suspension performance in MTV, but they don't list VW only Audi and lotus and the like. I might call just to see though.

Made an appointment with Sonic next week. Quote was better than any of the others were even WITH the alignment thrown in, plus they're close to work. Thanks for the tip, I'll see how they do and let y'all know! I better get a tape and shoot some before and after FTG measures too!

Your welcome. They always deal with fancy azz cars and I think people get a little intimidated by them but you never know till you ask.
There pricing seems very reasonable and if you do more mods at once they'll cut you a better deal.

GL:thumbsup:

Hey, are they gonna have to remove the unibrace ub for this job? To drop the subframe for the front install? I better tell them not to tighten them to torque spec just in case they pull it I guess. I worry about that.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did they quote you?

Very similar numbers to what someone said for Julio above. And they can do alignment for $150 on top of the install. So a good deal, assuming the work is tight. So many folks worried about noise on this install, so hoping for the best.
