Should I change my DSG transmission fluid?

Got a 2013 GTI that just hit 80k miles I want to get the DSG fluid changed but according to CARFAX history it’s never been serviced. Tranny shifts like a dream and works perfectly with no issues. Assuming it’s never been serviced would it cause any issues if I get it changed?

It is very likely that service was skipped by the previous owner. The DSG was due for a transmission service at 40,000 & now it is due again at 80,000. Changing the fluid & replacing the filter will not cause any issues. Not changing it very well may cause expensive issues. I would change it or have it changed.

Yeah change it yourself. It’s not too difficult. I used the bottom fill method with a special tool that only cost me $13 Off eBay.

Just wanted to make sure my previous car had a standard automatic and it messed up after changing tranny fluid lol. Will definitely get the DSG serviced. Thank you everyone!

i got a friend with a passat that made it to 80k (without dsg service) with no issues... i told him he is lucky he didnt mess it up, but i guess he does a lot of highway driving. either way, cost of fluid/filter is a lot less than a new transmission...when in doubt just do it.

Yea true. I’ve heard all the rumors and experienced myself that changing tranny fluid is kind of risky that’s why I was hesitant to do it for a bit lol

its only risky when you go cheap or mix a wrong fluid. i have an expedition that can only take 1 type of fluid or it has shifting problems. our 6 speed manuals are the same, factory fluid works best for them. DSG isnt as picky as long as it is fluid specifically for VW DSG.
