Snow day! Trip to the gas station vid

As stated in description, car is on stock Detroits using OEM all-season tires. I would say the car did extremely well. If you have DSG, good luck because in few places starting in 1st gear was impossible, but 2nd gear worked perfectly for me. Hope to get more vids soon.

Car is about 24" FTG at the moment...no clearance issues, just plowed some snow here and there with the lip

I like the GTI in the snow. Performs very well for a fwd. I like that the ESC alerts me when it's engaged.

Yep, starting in second gear is not the easiest because car wants to die and you can't give it too much gas. But it does the trick for starting on slight uphils.

This was shot in Mountlake Terrace WA. If this was middle of the day with lots of cars on the road, I wouldn't dare to drive my car. Too many idiots don't know how to drive in the snow awd or not.

Thanks for the comments by the way. 3" are expected overnight and I actually have to go to work...we'll see how that goes.

this car and the MKV do great in the snow with the right tires, but if you let them get to worn down you'll get stuck like everybody else

Haha yeah that guy was having a lot of fun. Lens was packed with snow, but once he noticed the cam, he began fish tailing in front of me...I would rather have this guy on the street than average soccer mom who goes up a hill at 1mph, cuts people off, slows down either too fast or too slow, slams on her brakes through the turn, etc.

GTIs do well in the snow. All season tires will have their limitations.

Detroits look good, don't let it get below half, you never know conditions, what is open and what you might have to do. Nice video, and to think mine is two years old and only been in the rain once.
