I'm thinking of getting the track spm tbe. Is a stage 1 tune necessary? or can I run the exhaust on stock software?

turboback is stage 2 generally, stage 1 needs nothing else. spend the money on a stage 1 tune an intake and an s3 intercooler

You can run TBE on stock software if you like but you'll have to deal with check engine lights with spacers and whatnot. Plus you miss out on a portion of the gains you'd get from the TBE.

I was probably gonna go with spm's track exhaust mainly cause I want it loud haha. But stage 2+ is a plan just later

The tune will give you way more bang for the buck is what others are trying to say. You can run it without any performance issues. The only thing is you will throw a code because of the lack of cats. Even with spacers, its tricky.

what's holding you back from going stage 2? who's your tuner? i almost think you might loose some response, especially if you're going straight pipe.

take the $900+ you were gonna spend on the tbe, go stage 1 + intake and enjoy the car. thread//

yeah this is a great plan. car has a TON of power for daily driving and stock exhaust doesn't sound too shabby. if you really want the noise or extra power later, stage 2 tune is free or a small fee at most tuners since you've already done the ECU yank @ stage 1.

Buy the track DP and mate that to the stock CB. Then go get yourself stage 2 tune and you are spending the same money with actual benefits. As well as the "loud" your looking for... FYI it's only loud when you give it some pedal otherwise it purrs at idle.

if you're looking for noise you could go track catback and stage 1. you'll get the look and sound you're going for and it's a much easier install. then you can add the downpipe and go stage 2 later.

also, folks have just bought tips off amazon or ebay and got them put on stock catbacks. i don't like the look though, i'd rather have actual bigger piping.
