Summer Serrons or Swap?

Aries Pope

I'm buying some summer tires soon (probably Michelin PSS) and considering what to do about wheels.

I kinda like my Serrons. So advice: should I keep the Serrons and put the summer rubber on them and get some used detroits or something for the pirellis AS stockers just in case I need them for a road trip, or keep the pirellis on the Serrons and buy some new shoes for the summer rubber, maybe VMR 710 custompowdercoated or also liking the O.Z. Ultraleggeras or maybe Superturismos.

The other factor is any cash I save on wheels I can put towards my K04 fund or into suspension items like DG springs or a touring cup kit.

You might as well wait until your all seasons are done. If you like the serrons keep them and put summer rubber on them once your all seasons are toast.

Wow, that's s practical I didn't even consider it!

Makes a lot of sense though... That 2500 I was gonna spend on wheels plus tires is.... A K04! Minus install, but still...

The K04 will likely cause the Serrons to be toast sooner, I suspect, as well.

Interesting....

That's what I am going to do myself. I'd prefer different tires but will just wait till my Pirelli PZero Nero AS tires are useless and get better tires.

Im going to do the same. I really want some summer rubber but I cant see tossing perfectly good AS. Ill just ride it out and upgrade when the time comes.

Well, the other way I look at it is I might need the AS for the rainy season out here, which is like two weeks, honestly. Or on a road trip into the mountains where it can go under 40 and summer rubber will harden up. So keeping some good AS around on wheels to swap out if I need them makes sense.

On the other hand, will I actually do this? Do I want a stack of tires in my garage where there is no room for them? More likely I'd get a tire garage tarp thing and leave them in the yard covered.

I wouldn't worry about a road trip, even If the temp was below 40 you would be ok as long as you drive carefully. There's no point in swapping out your all seasons before they are worn because you won't get anything for them. Save the money and go K04, that should help those all seasons burn out quicker. Lol
