As of August 23rd 2025 I sold my GTI.
The clutch pedal base broke off the firewall. I have pictures but I do not want to post it up, no point, I asked many shops if they can fix it and I was willing to pay the price.
All the shops I asked said no, because it was complicated and the firewall area needs to be welded. I asked high profile VW/Audi shops here in Ontario, Canada. They were scared the car will catch on fire. Due to welding... at this point I knew that I didn't know of any good shops that were willing to take risks. I mean if u think about it, driving any car on public roads is a risk... it can catch on fire. Of course the risks are extremely low.
It broke off as I was driving the car, depressing the clutch pedal, it just went all the way in, broke through the firewall. Sad. Everything happens for a reason. Moving forward. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
There wasn't any rust so not sure why it happened. It broke off as I was in traffic, luckily it was between two merging points on the highway so I stopped in a spot where I was not blocking traffic. Thankfully I had CAA towing membership so I did not pay out of pocket for the tow.
It's unfortunate I poured a lot of money into this GTI and it was scrapped. But I am happy I didn't break and the car broke. The car didn't break me, I always found ways to pay for repairs by any means necessary.
I figured I share this with you all. My loss. Its OK. Moving forward, forward always.

Yeah, @supreme_gti I'm curious too since you said you "sold it" but then you said "it was scrapped."
Did you at least remove the mods/parts from it first?

if u look at my previous threads/posts, I always presented pics, or tried too.
I have pics I sent around to many sources only to get told its not fixable, its structural damage, etc. So no I am not posting pics regarding this incident. It is hard to believe without pics, I understand. Believe it or not, I'm posting this up for awareness.
Looking back, I'm sure I could've fixed it myself but everyone recommended to weld and not to try anything else.
I sold the car to a scrap yard, no I didn't remove any mods, I am selling parts I have left over from the build. Facebook marketplace time.
What am I getting into next? most definitely not a VAG car... the firewall might break due to my heavy foot which is what everyone locally is saying, I understand when this does not happen to more than 1 GTI, the world blames the owner/driver.
So I take on the fault/blame. Again, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone with 6speed trans GTI.
