Suspension noise... very obvious

There's a clanking type of noise coming from OUTSIDE the car when going over specific bumps, this only happens during certain types of bumps.
Booked my car in to check it out and find out the cause and fix it ASAP.

It sounds very metallic and it sounds like something is hitting against something metal. It's hard to capture in a video so words is all I can explain with.

I will let you all know what's causing it and what I did to fix it. Stay tuned.

This noise is present when I drive normal, if I'm heavy on the throttle, I don't hear it at all.
Sprinted drives does not produce this noise.

loose endlink?

I can jack up the car and check... I'll check tomorrow.

It's not affecting drive-ability. I can still beat on it and do 200kmph+ no problem

Potentially you can't hear it on throttle because the engine drowns out the susp. noise? If you have a rubber mallet, start tapping on stuff and see if there's an obvious rattle/clunk somewhere.

Could be several things but my first guess is always strut mount or strut bearing. Usually pretty easy to tell. Jack up the car, grab the strut and try and move it back and forth. If it is bad there will be play and you may even hear the clunk. I had a strut bearing break and it gave me the clunk you're talking about. I had a strut mount wear out as well and that clunked. Also had an enlink clunk as well. Those three parts seem to be the worst offenders.

Ya the throttle drowns a lot of road noise/suspension noise so it's hard to tell, but I have very good hearing (thank God), and with all the windows down, at slow speeds, in a residential neighborhood, I can hear it, only on specific bumps, not on all bumps. It's weird. I'm going to check it out.

Oh, Ok, I will check these parts out. It's an annoying clunk... others can hear it as well when I drive past them.

Well it's still making that noise... clanking.... sounds like floor tiles banging against one another when you buy tiles in bulk for house renovation...
It feels weird hitting curves at high speeds. I used to hit curves at 140/160kmph no problem, now the car struggles...

I need to upgrade the entire suspension now... I will work on this and resolve the noise issue ASAP.

Whatever it is, I hope it's not pricey... it can't be as much as buying a brand new GTI so whatever... I'll deal with it.

Well whatever it is consider it a warning that you may have a part that is about to let go.

I had a rear sway bar bushing disintegrate a few years back. It made quite a clunking noise over certain types of bumps. I ordered replacements for both sides. I shouldn’t have to worry about it again for years.

So the noise disappeared... weird. I know.. but it's no longer there... I will replace the parts you guys mentioned. Thank you all for your feedback.
