The Food Show Thread

I'm really into Mr. Bourdain's shows, and can't really stand any other ones on the Travel channel. I hate Adam Richmond's shows with a passion..I don't know why, but he bothers me. Also enjoy Iron Chef of course. Not into much else. What about you?

Huge Gordon Ramsay fan here. All his shows are great, Hell's Kitchen is decent for the american-drama aspect of it for entertainment. But his legit shows are even better, Kitchen Nightmares is a great one, he does some really amazing stuff for the people he helps on the show and has the patience of a saint most of the time and my favorite would be The F Word. A great show about one of his restaurants in the UK where he shows not only some of his personal life and choices but trying to make great cooking the norm in the households. It's rad.

Also love the show Chopped, watching Chefs compete with a bunch of rag-tag ingredients and creating really awesome food is definetly a good time. Some of the stuff they come up with is insane, it's fun to watch real-time creativity come out.

I'd have to say Alton Brown's Good Eats. I like the science he puts behind cooking.

I like most food shows with the exception of pastry/dessert shows and any show that people are gorging on food.

I think the shows I take the most from are two PBS shows America's Test Kitchen and Mexico, One Plate at a Time (Rick Bayless).

I love Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives. It makes me want to eat all sorts of crappy food.

The F Word is excellent. Top Chef is great as well. Man vs. Food makes me sad.

As a French Canadian accent enthusiast, I'm also mesmerized by Bitchin Kitchen. It's a circus, but she cooks interesting food I can (approximately) replicate, and the little factoids about food are reminiscent of Good Eats.

The Rick Bayless show is cool, too.

Ah yes, good old Gordon. His shows are great as well. I feel like him and Anthony Bourdain don't 'act' as much as the other folks. Much more personality and less douchiness than Man vs Food and his other show (why does he have two?)

I like the original kitchen nightmares and chopped. Used to watch iron chef a lot but over an hour it kinda drags a lot - that's why I enjoy chopped a bit more.

Rob Rainford made the best bbq recipes. Enjoyed all the episodes I had watched. The man is born to grill.

Guhhhhhhhhhhh that dude is the worst. I'll suffer through a Guy Fieri marathon before watching Man vs. Food.

I dislike them both, although it is fun to see Adam eating ghost peppers and clearly not enjoying a second of it

Yeah, they're both pretty terrible. Adam is clearly acting and trying to get the crowd into his performance when he does food challenges, which is cool if you're into that kind of thing (I'm not). But I can't tell if Guy is acting or genuinely unaware of how douchey he really is.

On a side note, I just started watching Roadtrip with G Garvin on the cooking channel. It's basically Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives with a tolerable host and more interesting story line.

The Layover is probably the best food show (not really a cooking show) this year. IMO.

Bourdain is solid - NR was good as is Layover. His book, kitchen confidential is also great. I can do without all the others. I hate man vs. food. I always pray that obnoxious, fat, greasy butterball pig of a man chokes on some enormous chili dog, but he never does. Shows like that are just proof that America is full of total morons that are easily amused.

Diners, Drive Ins and Dives is ok as it at least showcases some cool mom and pop places around the country but the host is such a douchebag, it hurts. The hair, the arm bands, the sunglasses resting on the back of his head.. Cringe.
