No you just reset it through the MFA. It's in the settings labeled reset service reminder.

I wish they had kept it so easy. In the mk7 you have to like hold down a button on start up and then some other shit it's annoying
I checked it out yesterday, and it said the service was in 340 days, but the wrench was off at the time. I reset it anyways, and then I read that I can press the little clock button to select the wrench, click on it, and then I guess it will tell me what service it thinks it wants? Something like that. After I reset it, I made the same trip back home, and the wrench didn't pop up again.

Lady Phur's 2006 Jetta 2.5 has been having a secondary cooling fan issue for a long time now, with a CEL. The secondary fan would only barely try to run before giving up and instead running the primary fan at a much higher speed. The first time that she went to use the air conditioner this year, she found that it would only blow out hot air. I used my new Vagcom cable and checked out both of the cars yesterday. This is what it said about the fan...

I figured that I would probably end up having to take it to a shop to have it addressed because I don't have a garage, and only a gravel driveway. When I looked at the AC, though, I figured that a recharge had a pretty good chance of solving the issue. The car is 15 years old after all and has never had the AC serviced in any way.

As I was recharging the AC, something peculiar happened... The secondary fan came on and started working as it should! I don't fully understand how the cooling system works. Would a low HVAC refrigerant level really cause issues with the cooling fan? If so, how? I really enjoy understanding how things work. Thank you in advance.

Short answer, the secondary fan is used to regulate the high side system pressure. If your charge level is low, then high side pressures will be lower than normal. You would definitely want to address the low charge before going any further chasing the fan control circuits.

Thank you. Yeah, adding some refrigerant seemed to fix the issue. I just wasn't expecting that and was curious if that was possible. We had that fan replaced several years ago and it wasn't long before it stopped working again. So is it possible that it was the pressure the whole time, despite the fact that until recently it would still blow out cold air?

It could be possible that you developed a very slow leak. That fan may not even be needed when ambient temps are lower, or when it's on a low setting.

Did you add in some oil when you recharged? If it leaked freon it leaked oil and could cause compressor damage down the road if not fully oiled. I looked it up in AllData here at work looks like the full system takes 110cc which is 3.7oz. Depending on how low it was, I'd think at least 1.5-2oz back in if it was blowing hot air. It should take PAG oil but it looks like it may depend on which manufacture of compressor was used? Alldata shows a part# of G 052 200 154 A but looks like that should be G052154A OR G052200A, might just see if the dealer has some as they can confirm by VIN.

On the automatic trans on the 2.5L, is it normal for there to be a slight delay in throttle response?

I noticed if I am doing some spirited driving (on a safe and secure racetrack of course), if I am off throttle, and floor it at the apex, I have what feels like a whole second delay before the engine realizes that it's time to work. I don't think I have this delay when I am in fake-manual mode.

Lady Phur has a mk5 Jetta with a 2.5 auto. There is definitely no delay in throttle response in that, to the point that I find it a bit assaulting if I haven't driven it in a long time. (no turbo lag at all)

maybe calibrate the throttle body?
