Tick, tick, tick.....................

This warmer weather in the UK, after the worst winter for 30 years, has bought on a ticking noise that seems to come from the back of my car in the region of the passenger's door (nearside) and the pillar or rear door just behind my lughole. It depends on which side the sun has been playing whilst parked.

As you drive away and presumably the temperature of the side in question drops or equalises (expansion/contraction etc.), there is a somwhat regular ticking noise somewhat like a HT sparking noise that gradually goes off until you park again in the sun.

Never heard it during our delightful winter, that seems to be almost over, now.

I've had that same noise from the back and front passenger air vent. Like you noticed only with the warmer weather, and early morning when I have the AC on. But I've noticed it goes away after a few minutes. Hopefully it's just the materials reaction to the weather and nothing more.

I had hoped that this car, unlike my previous MK5 Golf would be rattle and squeak free but seemingly not.

I have the same as well. Living in Malaysia, it is consistently 30 degrees and above. So the first thing I naturally do, when getting in the car in the morning (or any other time of the day for that fact) is blast my air cond. The ticking noise seems to be coming from the B-Pillars with my car. Quite annoying. It usually does go away after a while.

i am having a similar problem with my 2 door sportline.
The ticking noise is coming from the driver side door and begins as soon as I start the car after having been in the sun.
The dealer thought i was crazy when I mentioned it to him.
I am also getting a noise from the back seat behind the passenger side whenever i drive 60mph or faster.

Yep, i get the ticking noise too on my 5dr mk6. I usually get it on the passenger side (where the sun is shinning) during my morning traffic jam.

i started noticing this yesterday also, its coming from the b-pillar drivers side (right) but not from the passenger side! it started yesterday afternoon just before i got home from work and this morning it started straight away and happened every now and again all the way in.

i had read this thread a couple of weeks ago so i have been listening out for it, in hope i dont get it!

what i have noticed is when closing the doors the passenger side seems stronger then the drivers, most people close the door with fingers on the b-pillar the drivers side has a little ticking noise like the plastics are flexing slightly when you do this, i refrain from doing this now but everyone still does it on the passenger side yet there is no issue.

anyone actually been to the dealer and had them do anything about it, or is it something we have to live with?
