Tire Pressure Light Won't Turn Off

Quick question for you guys. So I had an aftermarket stereo installed and everything was working fine for a while. One day I noticed that my tire pressure light was on, and indeed one of my tires was low. Filled it up and tried to reset it with the button in the glove box and it wouldn't. All tires are up to pressure and it won't reset. So I took it back to VW and they are claiming that the aftermarket stereo installation is probably tapped into the K wire for power, and that they can't get their computer to communicate with my car to do anything at all.

So I call car stereo place, and they say that they did not connect it to the K wire, but I'm gonna have them check anyway in the next weeks.... So then I started thinking... I had someone VAG my car and change a couple of things (like Ed's LED headlights, my needles sweep across the board when I turn my car on, etc). Of course I didn't tell the dealership this. My question is: Could messing with/changing things with the VAG could cause this problem? I'm about to go stage 1 with with stage 2 intake and would like to have this issue resolved before I get all that installed and go the dealership. Any thoughts? Thanks

Forgive a dumb question, but you do know that you have to press and hold the TPMS button-while the engine is running-until you hear the chirp, right? You can't just press it for a second and stop. Not trying to be a smartass, just want to make sure you know the proper procedure.

You're not being a smart ass. And yes I did follow the proper procedure and held it down while engine is on for a while, multiple times and multiple occasions. Never has reset, never herd the chirp. Dealership couldn't reset it either.

Hmm. Ok, then yea, you've got some problem that either the dealer or the stereo shop needs to figure out. Good luck, man.

Was curious though, if doing something with VAGCOM could cause this to happen. Had someone code some headlight stuff and was wondering if that could be it, and if the dealership would know someone messed with it.

turn the car off and press the TPMS button again. I had to do this in order for the light to go off.

Tried, still not working for me.

my wife has this same thing on her mkvi jetta... its been going on for a couple months and has happened 5 or 6 times. theres only 9k miles on her car too. maybe just a common fault with something in the 2012s.

Mmmmm Kay..... So I finally have it fixed. So to recap.... got aftermarket stereo stuff installed, everything is fine for months, then suddenly one day TPMS light comes on, I fill up tire and it wont turn off after following directions to reset it. Dealership comfirms it wont turn off, and tell me that there is a huge problem, and they cannot even communicate with my car's computer at all.

So the other day I went in to a stereo place and asked them to check the wiring. The dealership said that a lot of car places will hook up to the "K wire" for power and this causes problems with communication to the cars computer. Car stereo guy confirmed that it was not hooked up to the K wire, and that the wiring was all good. For shits and giggles I asked him to unplug the entire stereo, which he did. At the same time, I was checking if the tire pressure reset button in the glove box was hooked up (maybe was unplugged during installation?). It felt iffy.... can't say for sure if it was unplugged or not, so I unplugged it and replugged it in as he was plugging the stereo system back in.... then BAM... it chimes, and the TPMS light turns off. Problem solved. Take my car back to the dealership and they say that they can now communicate with my car's computer and everything is good. So, that was the deal, just an FYI in case someone else has the same problem.
