To sell or not to sell... that is the question #firstworldproblems

I'm pretty sure that the fuel pump failures are mostly mis-fuels. As for long term reliability, the EGR and DPF can be an issue. In my case, if I still live in Michigan when my power-train warranty runs out, I will definitely remove the DPF and EGR to avoid problems with those failing, since we have no emission regulations here.

Financially it makes sense for you to sell the Vette, but emotionally it's whatever you feel is right.

Sell the Vett and buy a bike! The only way to commute in California. I lived in LA for four years and never even owned a car, always felt bad for the people sitting in traffic as I went passed them.....also faster than almost any car made :) I miss my bikes, if I was not stuck in the northeast I would have one again. I rode 40,000+ miles a year and loved every mile. Also bike track days are cheap as hell out there.

one old auntie hits you, and life is over. #risk is much higher vs positives. maybe in 30 years, we all use bikes, then yes :D

Yeah always a little dangerous.... I did get hit in Cali and shattered my wrist....then got fucktonofmoney from it. Think I would still get one again if I could live there again. Now that I think about it....maybe just a track only bike next time.

If the vett is paid off just keep it, and start driving it more again. While it doesnt make a good DD its still great for friday runs to work and the weekend. It seems you have a real love for this car and it doesnt seem that your in a situation that you NEED to sell it.

Ride it out with the TDI, and when you sell that move on to something thats a good on economy and fun to drive, if by that time you still don't use the vett, sell it and put the money into the new car to pay it off.

Why keep the car if you don't drive it? I say that after putting 800 miles on a Bronco I restored over the course of 3 years before finally selling it and not having seen my 740 in over a year--so I have no credibility.

If you're thinking of getting rid of both, the nerd way to answer the question would be to calculate the total monthly/annual cost of holding each car and their depreciation, then look at alternatives you'd consider that would blend some of the fuel economy of the TDI with some of the badassedness of the Vette. The right answer is probably MK7 GTI.

I already did that :lol::yikes:

My all in costs (depreciation insurance gas etc) are about $750 for both cars...

I considered a used M3 (E92) $1100 a month and
a used 335i $1000 a month.

And I decided against it... paying over 1k a month in transportation is a bit crazy...

The Golf By itself is less than $400 a month all in ... the corvette is about $300 but I drive the golf 19k miles a year and the corvette 1k.

great points here^ and why i sold my vette that was a garage queen. If you can find one car to "do it all", great, if not though, look to change up both to some new cars that may excite you.

Well then you're a friggin nerd, and nerds don't drive Vettes. Problem solved. :)

As my thread shows I drive the TDI 19X as much as I drive the Vette :yikes:
