I need to get some way to hide the edge of where the carpet pieces do not align so I can minimize how obvious it is for what I did. Autozone might have what i need.

It looks like the edges give it away from the pictures. What it you were to apply a touch of adhesive and tuck it back on itself? If it does make it better, you would need to make a few slits in different areas. Does that make sense?

Yeah that's more effort than I want to give to it right now lol

i'm overdue for an update, eh?

Recent changes:

- added the CJM cup holder delete (review will be in build journal thread)

- changed spark plugs

- replaced my SPM catback with a 42DD to match my DP, so now i am full TBE with the same brand. I also obtained a test pipe for future.. fuckery. the sounds is far louder than anticipated, i dont hate it but the drone is a thing at certain times. gonna need to be careful with my current living situation to avoid HOA fines. Also need to explore exhaust tip alternates, as the 3.5 inch ones feel too small now.

- replaced the dash trim with Golf R trim, which is silver instead of black. also replaced door cards with ones from a Golf (R?), which has silver trim instead of black.

- Added some pillows to give head support when needed for the Recaros can be a little... unforgiving to my passenger. Houndstooth to match the shift boot.

now i need to deep clean the insides of the car since i made a mess of things.

If anyone local is interested, i am selling my old lowering spring setup with koni str.t orange struts installed on the fronts, with the tophats in place. this will make install a bit easier for whomever gets this. also selling a 42DD downpipe, catted with the usual 200 cell high flow that 42DD uses. in great shape, CCTA and CBFA compatible. local deals only on both of these.

CJM Cup Holder Delete

First off want to say thank you to CJM and Urotuning for the help in working things out on this. This piece is 3D printed to fit as an insert into the sup holder to clean the look up and also to hide the gross cup holder stains we all know and love when our open cans of Monster spill while driving about town. this is a viable alternative to the euro cup holder.

This thing is pretty cool add on, completely reversable at will. the design on the underside could come in handy to take things out of plain sight, if you catch my drift. not going to show that here out of respect for CJM's 3D printing design work. the fitment for me did take some extra work on my part but i figured out how to get it sitting perfect. When i first placed this in, i forgot to remove the little rubber bit at the bottom like the instructions tell you to. not a big deal as it is stashed away cleanly in my armrest. but once i put it back in things did not seem to align quite right. I reached out to urotuning, who i bought this from, and they asked CJB for guidance.

The guidance received was to essentially disassemble the entire center console and adjust the screws that hold the cup holder in place to allow for the insert to sit flush. admittedly i was a bit peeved at this, as I thought this would be an alternative to the euro cup holder, and these instructions were essentially taking me to the point of doing the euro cup holder. after thinking some more on it i took a dead blow hammer i have, stuck the handle in place and shifted the whole cup holder back a few mm but whacking the top of the hammer with my hand to guide the thing backwards. then i tried the insert and that worked.

I like the look and fit of it. the little pull tab makes this easy to remove on the go, i stow it in the door pocket when i need to used the cup holder.

i like your updates!

here's what i did when i had some zhong zhong seats in my mk6

before:

After: found some matching to the seat 'CaRbOn FiBeR TwIlL FaBrIC' and just kinda tucked it under the door trim, rebolted through some holes i made. looked pretty titties, worked a treat either way

they are braum seats, got em from braum or carID i think. planted brackets.

oh and FWIW i never could figure out how to get the damn airbag light to turn off. even after swapping in different OEM seats. Pissed me off, might be part of why i ultimately sold the car lol.

I tried the bladder swap of course, resistors, coding, etc. couldn't figure it out. hope you can. maybe i'm just a stupid (but handsome) bastard.

I have mine mostly coded out. Made a dummy harness for the seat airbags.

It's funny to me that the R steering wheel trim is black, but doesn't have black dash or door trim, and how the GTI is the same but opposite with the silver wheel trim and black dash/door trim. 🤷‍♂️ Or am I wrong?
