Hey guys!
Super glad I found this thread! I’ve been really racking my brain before I make a wrong purchase. ALL of the info posted here has been a really great read. You guys are saving lives one post at a time.

@stock
Is it possible to post a link to the ones you bought? I have a MK6 GTI with HiDs and all the assemblies I’m finding says not compatible with Xenon/HiD model. Would be a great help!

thanks again guys!

Do you have a 10 pin connector on your headlight or a 14 pin connector?

Not sure, but after a series of posts and reading seems like there isn’t any custom headlight for factory installed bi-xenon (which is what I have). Also pretty safe to assume I have the 14-pin because the lights have adaptive control and stuff too.. I resorted to upgrading the bulbs and getting these to run as DRLs instead.

Hi Guys,

Seen this issue pop up in a few threads usually without any resolution.
I bought some Vland UU headlights and like many others my DRLs did not work after install.
Despite searching the forums thoroughly i did not see anyone post a solution besides buying "adapters" that may or may not fit.
This is NOT a coding problem or a headlight switch problem, I figured that out after hours of trying to code and debugging.

The fix, at least for my headlights was a pin swap. Parking lights on the original 10 pin harness is pin 10.
Pin 10 on the VLAND headlights are not the UU DRLs.

It seems like the pin is part of the auto adjustment system and pin 1 is actually the DRLs.
I swapped pin 10 to pin one in my clip and got my lights working no problem now.
Hoping this helps some of you out there.

So I have a mk6 R and did you have to switch the pins to get everything to work cause mine won't even plug in could I get some help?

If you have an R most likely you have the xenon headlights by default.
Those harnesses are 14 pin vs the gti 10 pin i believe.
Unfortunately you kind of have to buy adapters for those.

There is a way to make this work now. Forgot where the original thread is but I bought the adapter from https://www.mk6ix.com/product-page/14-10-pin-vw-mk6-headlight-harness

And have successfully installed Supernova headlights in my MK6 GTI which originally had Bi-Xenons :) only thing is I have the error code for both headlights and the cornering module. Was wondering if anyone would know how to get around this ?

Cant really help you if you dont tell me what youre getting stuck on.
You mentioned in my DMs your harness has 6 pins and the Vlands have 8.
This is true but your harness still is a 10 pin harness. and both the Vlands and the harness should have a number nearby to help you determine which is the correct location.

The two extra pins on the vlands are for adaptive adjustment motors that the gti dont have, these will just be left open.

Very thorough thread. I am new to this site as a member! I am curious. I have the exact same lights as the previous guy with the already installed red demon eye. I had an issue when I purchased LED tail lights making only one DRL come on and a fog light, and a rear light in the back. Installed a euro switch and trigger wire and it fixed right up. However, when I apply the switch to full mode, the low beams on these lights turn on with the DRLs (which I have no issue with as it looks very nice) BUT the red eye turns on with the beam as well. It does not affect anything, but I do not like the look of it. Is there a way to code/wire that out? That way, when running DRLs only, the UU lights will light up along with the red eye. When in full mode, the DRLs turn on with the low beams but NO red eye.

I should also mention to people with these lights that there is an additional knob for low beam height-adjustment inside the housing.
Mine from the factory where pointed way too low and the external adjustment knob was just skipping teeth.
Hi . Is it inside the low beam housing?

It sounds like your DRLs and the demon eye are connected to the parking light terminal.
It may be possible to rewire the demon eye to the DRL terminal but thats the only option i can think of.
I dont believe there are any coding options that will help you.

Yes, its inside the low beam housing, its an odd looking screw but youll be able to turn it to adjust.

I have no issue with wiring, but which wire would be which?
Assuming you have an unmodified 10 pin harness for halogens this should be the pinout from what i tested:
pin 4: DRLs
pin 5: Gnd
pin 6: Low Beams
pin 8: High Beams
pin 9: Turn Signal
pin 10: Parking lights
The other pins should be empty.

In order to do what you want you would need to isolate your demon eye positive power wire and connect it to pin 4.
You should make sure you can get pin 4 energized first (easiest way is to do long coding to have DRL option in MFD display), some have had no problems while others (including myself) have not been able to get this pin to energize.

Another way to go about this, to ignore the difficulty of energizing pin 4, is to have the demon eyes tapped into a 12V fuse with a easy accessible relay mounted somewhere in the cockpit.

So for example, you would find a an empty fuse slot with constant 12V power, add a fuse tap for simplicity, install a toggle switch similar to this:
https://www.amazon.com/Nilight-9001...=1&keywords=switch+12v&qid=1616527238&sr=8-11

Then run the wire from fuse to a switch and then have the outgoing wire split and go to each demon eye.
Then you would be able to turn on your demon eyes independently from anything else, you can also use a ignition only fuse slot if you are worried about accidentally leaving the lights on, but then they will only be able to energize with the key in.

So I just bought and installed this yesterday and I'm beyond annoyed.
I tried the pin swap, the only combination that kind of worked would be to have DRL's working but when turning on the headlight only the headlight would be lit and not the white U (2nd picture for reference.)

I think for this setup I had the high beam unplugged (so i moved 4-drl into 8-high beam) this was the only way I found the DRL to come on with the e-brake down.

I even tried skipping their adapter and plugging straight into the headlight housing since I noticed their adapter only has 5 pins for power but the OE harness has 6. Therefor when plugging into the adapter the 4pin-drl isn't connecting to anything.
But that didnt cause the DRL to work that way either, I may try more combinations tomorrow. But any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
