What are the benefits to a euroswitch?

Heres what i had to do on my 2012 autobahn. I don't remember the exact byte, but I had to code my lights to RoW to get rid of the bulb out errors when I put in my R20 LED tails.

However, when you go RoW on a 2012 with LED DRL the right DRL lights go out. Left stay on. So you need to then go swap two wires in the CECM in addition to adding trigger wires. Then the rear fog will work and the right DRL will work as desired.

Pain in the ass, but there's some good DIY on here I used and got it all sorted.
Yeah this is the DIY I followed and everything works perfect except the DRL's. It only seems to be a problem with Halogen cars as well. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...thout-Rear-Fog.

Will the auto function work using this switch on an LED DRL equipped car?

There is much contradictory info posted about this. I have a stock 2012 with LED DRLs. Incandescent tails. The BoldSport web page says their combo (switch + aftermarket sensor) won't work with LED DRLs. A writeup using the OEM light sensor also mentioned LED DRLs wouldn't work.

Note, I'm not talking about other functionality. I don't care about LED tails, parking lights, or rear fog.

About to order the euro switch I just have a few questions. I'm thinking about getting the Dose led head lights or the euro specs from ECS. I already have the rear LEDs from dose NOT with the fog light. So my question is do I have to code the headlight to the switch and do I need the trigger switch?

Trigger wire is all you need for the switch to work.

^ so just get the switch with trigger wire and all the functions will work without having to use vagcom and no errors will pop up...right?

Correct. If you purchased the LED tails from DOSE, they come with resistors which would be plug and play. The trigger wire will turn on the functions of the Euro switch just make sure you install the trigger to the correct connectors in the ECM. VAGCOM is not needed.

Aries,
I have the same issue that you were having. Followed up on one of the DIY for coding and wiring for Euro Golf R tails with dogs and still have a dead passenger DRL. Put everything back together stock. You wouldn't happen to remember or link to for proper install for euro switch with led tails and xenon headlights?

Euroswitch will allow for different functionality depending on which one you get. Most people get them to be able to run a rear fog light and/or parking lights. As you know on the stock switch it is either headlights on or off and a single pull for fog lights. On a Euroswitch you can run your parking lights without your headlights on and also run parking lights with front and (if installed) rear fogs on as well. Of course it still has the headlight on/off control as well.

It says MK5 but it is the same on MK6.

Are city lights just DRLS? I didn't even know our cars had rear fogs. Huh. Learn something new every day! I bought my euroswitch so I could have an auto on/off headlight. I was spoiled with my g35 having one stock.

City lights are parking lights. I had to run a trigger wire but it's nice when you don't need the headlights.

Are the trigger wire instructions the same for halogen cars as it is bi xenon? I can find the DIY for bi xenon but not one specifically for halogen. Can anyone confirm?
