This happened to me years ago when I was doing brakes on a Jetta. Luckily I had a tire under the car. I was in the wheel well trying to crank a frustrating bolt when I felt everything shift..I rolled out and the car pushed my face into my knee.
Honestly, I still have a hard time getting under a car to this day.
years ago i saw a group of people standing by a car trying to change a flat with a widowmaker. the guy had the thing going for the subframe or control arm area as jack point and the thing got stuck and had shifted the weight of the vehicle. i stopped and helped him with another jack and showed him the proper way to use it, but the fact that out of the 6 people standing there watching no one knew about this is astounding.
I’ll have to go look again, but I‘m pretty sure mine is different from that. Mine is basically a standard scissor jack and it’s sketchy as hell. I would trust the one in the video more because it seems to at least be more resistant to side to side motions.
I have used a lot of jacks in my time. The only one that I have seen fail was that piece of shite one from Home Depot. God those are bad, if you have one throw it in the recycle bin.
I'm also in the club of requiring a rear to front switch if I get a flat front tire due to some questionable brake caliper clearance . I actually have plenty of clearance with my OZ's but had a rear tire blow out on that set of wheels. Switched temporarily to the detroits + spacer. Ended up blowing out a front tire on the detroits and having to do the rear to front swap and put the spare on the rear. Not a fun task in the rain and with the widow maker jack!

Chill out, I just finished telling myself how beautiful my silver Porsche calipers are on my black car. Now you’ve got me thinking about painting them yellow...

Might wanna coat it with something. IIRC that's aluminized steel from the factory and while it looks great, you may or may not be polishing off all the aluminum coating, leaving the bare steel – which will rust. Dunno just how deep you're getting with the polishing.
Are high temp clear coats a thing?
