APR coil died suddenly last night after 2.5 years. Gone back to red tops, car feeling smoother. Starting to think the APR coils are a bit rubbish...
YES!!! APR COILPACKS ARE GARBAGE. They would not even send me replacements, nor send a prepaid label to inspect the APR coilpacks that failed on me....

get the OEM AUDI R8 coilpacks (2011), I'm running these and it is EXCELLENT. I got it from ROCK AUTO.

what's strange is both DINAN and APR share the same facility... hopefully DINAN doesn't end up like APR...

The company that owns dinan owns apr.
Apr isn't terrible, it's just that some of their products are mid and all of their products are overpriced.
R8 coil packs for the win, they are the best and you can find them for cheaper than other coil packs.

More then I got out of my R8’s. They started mis firing at 10k miles. Bought from FCP so exchanged for APR ones.

@jay745 so you soak the valves before blasting? What do you soak them with?

Picked up a blaster and some shells.

Yes Pb blaster. Take the air straighteners out, fill up the 3 closed valves with pb, let it sit for a bit then start using a pick to break it all up. Suck it out with a vacuum then pick some more to get rid of the big chunks. It'll still look bad but once you've gotten the big stuff out fill it up with brake cleaner then suck it out with a vacuum and you're ready for the walnut blasting. After you're done with those 3 crank the motor to close the 4th valve and repeat on that cylinder.

Installed new OEM sway bar and links. Wow, what a pain that was. Dropping the subframe and pieces wasn't too bad in retrospect but getting the sway bar actually bolted in from underneath was its own challenge too. For the record, I reused the subframe bolts though other threads here note that they are supposed to be replaced.

Good enough before walnut?

Should I get my pick up where the valve stem goes or will I hit a seal or something? Not familiar with that.

Edit: did more scrapping. It looks okay then I run the pick in it and get more shit.

Also it’s a 24mm for the crank, do I turn it CW or CCW to close the valve?
