Should I get my pick up where the valve stem goes or will I hit a seal or something? Not familiar with that.

Edit: did more scrapping. It looks okay then I run the pick in it and get more shit.
Be gentle but it's good to pick up as well. You did way more than you had to. Shoot that shit
Also it’s a 24mm for the crank, do I turn it CW or CCW to close the valve?

I fixed my air filter that had a hole in it. Temporary fix obviously. Got a new one on order.

Wrapped up my turbo install, started the car, and I was pulling vacuum


Dropped it off at the shop two hours later. I didn't have the money to risk damaging the turbo by not knowing what I'm doing. If the turbo's bad, though, I was looking at a K04 and learned that they don't need a tune ? I just assumed they'd run like shit with a hundred codes if you didn't tune it. But now this one from FCPEuro is lookin like a mighty fine proposition. Ideally I'll fork over the extra $150 to upgrade my Unitronic tune, but I'm perfectly fine with safe, unused power for now.

Just don't hit boost if you upgrade to K04, because your fuel system won't be ready to keep up and you can lean out and nuke a piston. I know stratified sell a CTS K04 + Protune combo, which is a decent deal. The K04s are usually 1300 - 1700 depending on the brand. CTS one works just fine, I beat the crap out of it and it holds true. Do consider a hybrid K04 if you want more power potential, it's only a few hundred more, but is a more efficient K04.

Yeah my car ran like shit with a Stage 2 and K04. I could limp it around but it didn’t like it. Definitely need to tune it.

In the process of putting the car back together I managed to mess you one of the fuel injector seals when I was replacing them. Used the wrong sleeve. Going to pick up a new seal today.

It's likely fine. Put a small zip tie around it tight for a few hours and it'll shrink down to size

Maybe I’ll try that before replacing. I stopped at the dealer and got a new one.

I swear this car hates me 😑😡. Dropped the fuel rail and broke some shit. Flipped the intake over to put it on the car and forgot that wasn’t secured.

Got the new parts I broke and got her back together. After scaring me cause it was taking a while to start (since the fuel rail was drained) it started and I backed her out of the garage. Just cleared the codes and will wait for it cool so I can do a cold start.

Smells kinda funny. I’m hoping it’s just the new intake manifold.

Do I need a few cold starts to get my catalytic converter ready status? That’s all I’m waiting on. I Let it sit for about 45 min but I don’t think it cooled down enough. I’m highway driving but not cruise control.

If you had the battery disconnected, you’ll need to do a bunch of drive cycles. Usually takes about 60-70 miles of mixed driving and key cycles. If you have access to VCDS, there is a procedure to force readiness in about 15 minutes.
