I'm with you on the surreal bit. I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the vid.

Most of the HDR stuff people know is HDR is blown out and over done. You may actually be seeing a lot of stuff done using HDR techniques that you had no idea were HDR, there are nice ways to use it.

I agree though that the blown out style done in this video when done in photos is annoying and overly done, but in this video was interesting.
