In the install manual it says yellow is the usual wire to look for. That is what I used on my MKV MAF. My understanding is that is would be same wire for MAP which the MAFU can use as well.

Pads - you just ask for Hawk HPS 5.0 pads for 2011 GTI...

Well I would make sure you have a type D diverter valve in, piston style as opposed to diaphragm based, the latter tends to blow.

Fresh set of properly gapped plugs. Fresh air filter, fuel filter....

Also even with a larger intercooler it is hard to lower IAT in hot weather when you are...
