Competition is like race mode but also retains rear driveline engagement under braking. I certainly notice more control when letting off the gas/braking into a corner.

Not sure if it causes any additional wear but I haven't read or heard about premature failure. I'd just be more religious on haldex fluid and filter changes with a controller.
Have fun mods: Unitronic Stage 1+ | Unitronic Intake | Diesel Geek SS | HPA Haldex Comp Controller | 034 Dogbone | 19" Pretoria | Bully Stage 3 Clutch | Stoptech + EBC Red
Useful mods: RVC (aftermarket) | NSP boost gauge
Look-at-me mods: OEM LED tails | MkVII Climatronic | 4" Exhaust Tips | Gloss Black Emblems | VW logo puddle lights | Crystal Clear Sidemarkers
