Okay, so my wife now reports that the radio cuts in and out, and reception is generally rubbish, is this common, and can it be fixed?
Thought I would add a few pics of the RCD 330 with a glass screen protector.
Got it on Amazon but I think any 6.5 " protector should work. Touchscreen still super responsive. Install wasn't too difficult. There is a slight gap on the left side but just my error during install . Didn't feel like lifting back up

Also here is brief review of the rcd 330g plus
Replaced my RNS315, was installed on a non dynaudio gti.
Some minor complaints:
- have to have usb plugged in for android auto.
- no album art via Bluetooth. But my RNS 315 didn't have it either.
-bluetooth mic picks up more background noise because of the mic location. But callers say that my voice is loud and clear.
- No Satellite Radio
- No oem navigation ( but was outdated either way)
- No CD ( but didn't use the stock CD player once , since I owned the car)
-bluetooth unpairs if I turn off the car before disconnecting the USB cable while android auto is in use
- Had to get a dual fakra adapter for better FM Radio reception, but was $10 on Amazon
Pros:
- Android Auto/Car Play
-6.5" screen responsive screen and quick
- Better FM reception than RNS315 , even with the single fakra adapter. But reception improved even more with the dual fakra adapter.
- sound is just as good as rns315 if not better.
- price $226 can't beat that for a oem unit with Android auto. ( I used a 15% off eBay coupon and countered the seller from the original price , $187 after coupon)
- all steering wheel buttons work, Google assistant is way better than the original voice recognition software.
This is the one I got , it was $226 at that time . I sent him a offer of $215 . He countered with $220 . I accepted it and used a 15% coupon ebay had that day. Total was $187.I'm intrigued by the head unit due to having the Premium 7 which sounds like you're listening in a bathroom, LOL. Car audio specialists say the poor fidelity is due to radio signal, though my previous car sounded far better. I notice you say the FM sounds good, hence my curiosity. I'm not much of a DIY-er so if this takes lots of tools and experience I probably won't bother. It looks sweet though but sucks there's no CD player. I was going to upgrade to the VW made RCD-510 but it requires a ton of VCD programming which I'm unable to do. Where did you get the head unit, how much was it and do you have to program the system computer? Thanks
To be honest I'm not sure about the speaker differences between the golf and GTI. My GTI had the non dynaudio speakers . No subwoofer.Achilles R32...thanks for the info etc. As I'm sure you know original equip in a Golf is much different than a GTI and from all the upgrades you've done, you're obviously good at DIY It's less about the $$ and more about the sound improvement overall though. I'm not sure if my Golf has the same speaker setup as the GTI and the HU is very different also: https://goo.gl/d45TFw Every dealer says that when installing a HU with far different features than original will require programming also. Thanks
