Quaife ATB differential launched for four-wheel drive
VAG TFSI cars, including Audi TTS, S3 and VW Golf R
Owners of high performance four-wheel drive Audi and VW
models can now improve the handling performance and
dynamic abilities of their cars thanks to Quaife Engineering.
That’s because the British-based high performance
automotive transmission specialist has launched a helical gear
automatic torque biasing limited slip differential for the front
axle of four-wheel drive versions of many popular
Volkswagen-Audi Group cars, including:-
Audi A3 Quattro 2.0 TFSI - 2003 onwards
Audi S3 2.0 TFSI - 2006 onwards
Audi TT 2.0 TDI Quattro - 2008 onwards
Audi TTS 2.0 TFSI Quattro - 2008 onwards
Volkswagen Golf R - 2009 onwards
Safe and progressive in operation, in this four-wheel drive VAG application the Quaife ATB helical gear limited slip
differential seamlessly biases the engine’s torque across the front axle to the wheel with the most grip. In practice,
this translates into less front wheelspin on the exit of corners, as well as reduced understeer during committed
driving, plus greater stability and resistance to ABS intrusion under heavy braking.
In addition, the Quaife ATB reduces wheelspin from a standing start, improving acceleration performance. In lowgrip
conditions, particularly snow, it offers proven benefits beyond the traction provided by the standard VAG fourwheel
drive transmission system.
Quaife ATB helical gear limited slip differential quality / service benefits:-
A direct replacement for the stock ‘open’ VAG differential contained within the four-wheel drive transmission
gearbox used on these VAG models, the Quaife differential functions using a durable system of helical gears,
meaning there are no plates, springs or other components that require servicing or replacement.
The Quaife ATB differential has been designed to use the standard VAG transmission oil and is covered by a limited
lifetime warranty for both road and competition use. This makes the Quaife ATB differential a true ‘fit and forget’
unit.
Quaife ATB differential units are manufactured in the United Kingdom from quality certified Tata steel billets and
inspected to ISO9001-2008 standards.
Carrying part number QDF23R, the Quaife helical gear ATB limited slip differential for VAG four-wheel drive TFSI
models is available now, priced at £660.00 excluding taxes. Installation requires use of an ARP high tensile crown
wheel bolt kit, which Quaife can supply for an additional £132.50, excluding taxes.
