Best spacer size for 16 inch wheels

I have stock 2012 Jetta rims on my MK6. It's a daily driver (24 miles/day). I want a more aggressive stance so my buddy recommended 8mm fronts and 12mm rears. Do you think those would work well?

any idea what the offsets of wheels are? And what size tires on? 8 and 12 would be fine but you could probably go more without any issue. Car stock ride height as well?

Ride height is stock.

a more aggressive stance would be wider wheels and more meat on the thread of the tire like 225 at least. on stock height with those tires it's going to look pretty funny looking... almost like a civic trying to look wide.

Is that the look you're going for? If you had an autoCAD program or another editing program I'd say try the look on there for FREE before commiting to the spacers.
