Intake replacement, carbon cleaning, and dealer prices

I just had my intake manifold replaced on a 2011 GTI under the extended warranty, and while they were in there, I asked for the carbon cleaning.

The dealer charged $405 for the cleaning, and mentioned without the manifold labor being covered under warranty, the cleaning would have been like $1000.

Just throwing out what I paid, and hoping to help someone looking to have it done but not go the DIY route. I had the service done at a dealer in Beaverton, OR.

I was surprised that they did not take a pic of the cleaned intake after they were done, as they had taken a pic to show me how bad the carbon was built up prior to me agreeing to the $405 charge.

Take care everyone.

I thought it was 10 years 120,000 miles. Although my memory on that isn't very good.

Google gives me this.... 2008 - 2011
