Godspeed/eBay Turboback Exhaust

First impressions:
Exhaust: The exhaust was bought from eBay and was not listed as a Godspeed but is the same design and its my belief that it is a GSP product. Shipped within a week, however the shipment tracking didn't register at all till the last day of delivery. The steel in nicely polished and has a good finish. The quality of the product seems par with the more expensive name brands. Most of the welds are very clean a few are slightly sloppy but nothing to cause any worry. Overall I was very impressed with the quality of the exhaust the clamp was sub-par and the packaging wasn't outstanding but both do the job and in the end the price and quality far outweigh those factors. The eBay seller was 4caroption, this is sold out of La Puente, Cali and has the adjustable hanger. I wasn't sure I was gonna like the rolled exhaust tips but actually they are really nice. I had considered getting double wall slant cut tips welded on but now that i see them I am pleasantly surprised. They are massive but they look good.

Downpipe: The packaging was far better this was bought from the same warehouse that Godspeed uses in El Monte, Cali. Everything was wrapped in bubble wrapped and packed with packing peanuts. All the welds are spot on and the finish is perfectly shiny. The quality for $142 downpipe is unbelievable. The eBay seller was justspeed. Shipped within a few days.

Modification for CBFA and Prep:
The GSP/Ebay downpipe is for CCTA engines and so must be modified to fit the CBFA engines. 2 modifications must be made. One is the flange has to be adjusted the top two holes have to be widened out. I included pictures for reference but you can always compare it to your stock gasket for reference on where to widen the holes. Second, a third O2 sensor bung must be welded on. There are 3 O2 sensors on the CBFA exhaust system, one in the turbo, one on the elbow of the downpipe and one toward the end behind the second flange. The O2 sensor at the top will be plugged as that is not used unless you are CCTA. For reference for the location of the new bung I used the AWE downpipe because the GSP DP is basically a replica of that setup. The bung cost $2 from Napa Auto parts and a local shop mig welded it for $40.

Originally I planned on painted the whole exhaust with VHT flameproof clear to prevent rust spotting that DASVW ran into. However the paint isn’t clear but more of a opaque white. I ended up just coating the Y pipe of the exhaust and actually stripping the clear coat off the tips as it severely dulled the look. I left the the piping painted for the sake of the protection but I would suggest foregoing this process and just address the problem if it ever occurs.

Installation:
First of a big shoutout to GTIvic for installing it (he’s been one of my best friends since I was 13). The install was the prettiest but it wasn't hell either. The modification to the flange and new bung helped speed the process up, the hanger on the downpipe has to be heated and pulled for proper fitment as well as the non-adjustable hanger on the exhaust. The fitment isn't amazing. Took some shifting and a little bit of ingenuity on GTIvic’s part but overall it wasn't a huge hassle and it came together after a few short hours. Definitely not a deterrent to buying the exhaust. The tips sit relatively the same, I have them sitting a little lower as to avoid melting the diffuser. The tips are gigantic, but in the best way possible and they change the whole look of the back end

Sound & Performance
First start up....HOLY HELL. It was amazing. Pure ecstasy. Really surprised at how loud it is, but it doesn't have a catalytic converter or resonator so that's expected. This isn't my first exhaust so I some comparison to go off of. Right now I am chipped with an APR Stage 1 tune. I will be upgrading to Stage 2 this week. So far I haven't thrown a CEL either. The sound is a growl. At low RPMs its a deeper tone that has a really nice rumble a lot deeper than you would expect. At higher RPMs it gets noticeably louder when you pounce on the throttle. Goes from a low throaty growl to a exhaust resembling a higher end sports car perhaps and M3 for comparison (I know fanboys will slaughter me for that comparison) the sound level jumps much higher during a fast acceleration and the car can really scream on a nice long pull. Definitely a head turning exhaust. You can keep it relatively quiet too if you really go easy on the throttle and take it slow. Right now I have only had it on for a few hours so the exhaust isn't broken in. It has a little bit of gritty/raspy-ness that should smooth out once it breaks in and the tone should sink a little deeper but even now its very impressive. Not as grungy as straight pipes either. This can definitely be a daily driven exhaust at lower RPMs and recommended shift points it is relatively quiet but still noticeable.

Overall: Between the cost (275+142+40=$457), quality, sound, appearance and fitment. I can say that I am completely impressed and couldn't be happier with my purchase. This is the first review of both the GSP/eBay Catback and Downpipe being ran together as a full Godspeed Turbo-Back setup. I definitely recommend this setup. I will try and update the thread with any point of interests

Update: Day 2 threw a CEL

Was looking at this exact same one today. It's really cheap so good for a try-out. Link to your seller?

Glad to see it comes with the adjustable hanger. Also tips look a lot better sitting in the car than the eBay pictures.

Good comprehensive writeup.

Yah I have same catback and install on mine went much smoother not sure if its the fitment of the godspeed downpipe or that the quality control of catback isn't that great either way love the sound

Late reply I know. But you have a godspeed downpipe (I also have one) and this new 275$ exhaust? Sounds nice but my concern is any rust or anything. I saw the last post about how someone (I can't recall the UN) had to paint their catback because it started rusting a little bit.

Well so far I have it for 4 months and I have had no rust issues. No surface spotting or anything. If u see the first post I made, I did paint the pipes for protection but I did not paint the tips. Neither has had a problem though.

I still have the stock cat back for now. No drone but I will post up once I get a decent exhaust.

I'll throw in my $.02 here because I have the GSP dp mated up to my stock catback and I couldn't be happier with the sound, fitment, and resulting stage 2 performance from it. Nothing to complain here, the sound is a low satisfying rumble when you open up the throttle a little bit before the boost threshold and all the way to about 6k for my car.

Well worth the $180 shipped that I got for it.
