Thanks for the input guys! I ended up going with 16" sparco asseto gara's with continental extreme winter contact tires. I am actually looking forward to driving this winter now hahaa.

The only thing about having a nice set of winter tires is that you end up hating warm winters (like last year). You will *marvel* at how easily you'll get through snow that everyone else complains about driving in. (You'll still have to remember that most people can't stop in snow as quickly as you can.)

Yeah this. The benefit of the winters is stopping, and being able to quickly get out of the way of those who "don't subscribe to winter tires because its just a marketing thing. If you're a good driver, it doesn't matter"
