Dallas MK6 Golf R

Hey Everyone:

Just wanted to put a message out on the board about a vehicle that I traded in today. I had a 2013 MK6 R with 97K that I was maintaining at a very high level. The front differential / bevelbox sprung a leak on me and it was not going to be worthwhile for me to do the replacement at that mileage. I traded it in to Sewell Subaru and I'm sure it will end up at auction here in Dallas. I was totally straightforward with the dealer about the need to replace the differential, but you never know how dealers are going to be about disclosing that kind of thing going forward. It is a solid car. I just did the timing belt / water pump thinking I would drive it another 30-40K, but it just didn't pan out. It might be a good opportunity for someone. Otherwise it might be a loss if it is bought without the knowledge of the diff.

What all would be involved to fix that? Just curious.

What’d the dealer give you for it?

Hey all. The diff is about $2500. Labor is substantial if you are not doing yourself. I figured it would be around 4k with some other maintenance I was planning.

They basically gave me bluebook less the repair cost. I got a loaded up BRZ. Going rear wheel drive this time. Will miss this one though.
