Teaser: APR Golf R RSC Exhaust Video

The new APR RSC Turboback Exhaust System for the Golf R is almost ready so here's a little teaser to show it off.

RSC stands for Reflective Sound Cancelation, which basically allows APR to create an exhaust system that's completely straight through, with no baffles or mufflers getting in the way of exhaust flow, without any drone. Drone is loud, obnoxious and undesirable sounds most aftermarket exhaust systems create in most driving scenarios. It's a constant tone when cruising on the highway which makes even talking with passengers very difficult. The RSC chambers attached to the Golf R system completely eliminate drone and in doing so, open the exhaust up so all you'll hear is the true sound of the engine.

The system is quite tame under normal driving. You can easily drive around w/o the system appearing obnoxious to other drivers, yet once you stomp on it, the system screams as exhaust gasses rush out the tail pipe at incredible speeds. You can literally hear the exhaust (air) rushing out of the system in the videos, which is evident of how unrestricted the system truly is.

Take a look at the system and ask questions if you have any. We'll have photos, pricing, power graphs and all of the other information you need in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned and enjoy!

Sounds sick. Wish they had brought the DSG stateside and I would have a stage 2+ R right now :( A guy from my local VAG dealership came into my place of employment and he claimed that our market was going to test out selling the R w/DSG. I called BS, but he insisted. He was a tech guy though, so he might have no clue about what he is talking about.

Was it supposed to sound different then the Mkv version?

The design is very different. It's nearly a straight shot through the exhaust to the turbocharger with very few bends in the way. The resonator and RSC chambers are also quite different.

How so? Sounds about the same to me! Not sure how you can have a straight shot with a few bends tho

The center exit exhaust style really minimizes the number of turns. Each housing you see on the exhaust is completely straight through. No baffles in the way.

APR's RSC™ Technology is now available for the MK6 Golf R in our newest 2.0T RSC™ 3" Performance Exhaust System. RSC™ or Reflective Sound Cancellation allows for maximum exhaust gas flow while completely eliminating unwanted in cabin sound resonance known as "drone". RSC™ incorporates innovative technologies developed in conjunction with NASA. With limited use of packing materials and no baffles, RSC™ allows for a completely straight and free flowing exhaust path throughout the RSC™ mufflers. Reflective Cancellation bounces the undesirable sound waves into each other to attenuate the wave and completely eliminate the low frequency tones that create drone. Each RSC™ muffler is tuned to eliminate specific, undesirable sound frequencies allowing only the engine's true and desirable exhaust not to be heard and improving performance.

APR's design specifications and manufacturing requirements result in a 3" mandrel bend stainless steel performance exhaust system with minimal bends unmatched by any other. RSC™ technology ensures the maximum possible performance increases from any performance exhaust system while maintaining refined and unobtrusive sound inside the cabin.

Power Gains

Power gains were measured in identical testing conditions using APR's in house dynamometer. The factory exhaust was tested against the APR RSC Turboback Exhaust in various software and hardware configurations. The average maximum gains were rounded down to the nearest 5 HP and are listed below. APR recorded gains between 10 and 25 HP in various configurations proving the exhaust's 3" straight through free flowing design increases power over the stock exhaust system.
