* Roof Rack leak Issue *

So, I recently purchased one pair of aftermarket roof racks, and they are pretty solid from what I can tell. They are "universal fit", but it works for my Golf.

Anyway, we have had some pretty decent heavy rain storms down here, and I noticed after it passed, getting into my car that the seat bolsters were wet. There's a little breach between the door trim from the metal leg for obvious fitment necessities. I have already searched the forums and come up with someone suggesting duct tape or something. not really sure what that would look like, but I also don't think it's the same fitment issue. It looks as if I would've had the same issue going with the OEM version. The way these are set up to work.

Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to jack up my interior any further!

The Thule system I have for mine has similar metal parts that go around the edge like that.

Their solution is to include some length of black rubber tubing (approx. 3/8" OD, 3/16" ID) that you put along the top of the door seal where the metal part deforms the seal.

I just pushed the tubing in there between the outer rubber-like seal and the inner foam-like seal. I haven't had any issues with water coming in the windows. I don't leave the roof rack on all the time, but the tubes stay in there. I just rotate them slightly every 6 months or so to reduce a flat spot being formed.

I also live in Florida, where it rains pretty much once a day this time of year. Even my OEM racks leak with enough rain and driving. Not terribly, but water will get in. This is exactly why I only put them on when we have a good swell, otherwise, keep them off.

Brother, I hate to ask, but would you provide me with a photo or two of what you're describing? I would really appreciate it.
