2010 VW GTI Dying Engine

Hello guys, I only turned to the internet because nobody seems to know what the problem with my car is.
I have a 2010 VW GTI and about 2 years after purchasing it, the engine started dying shortly after starting. The first time this occured, i took it to the vw dealership and they replaced the battery (wow, i know). This obviously didn't fix anything, so the second time it happened i took my car to a German Car Specialist where they replaced a sensor in the fuel pump [don't rememember the exact part].
After replacing this, the car ran fine for about 1-2 years until recently when the issue started happening again.
Basically, i start the car, it starts perfectly, then after about 5-10 seconds it dies. I repeat the process and try to give it some gas shortly after it starts, but it feels like the gas pedal is not doing anything and the engine sounds muffled until I floor it enough times that it becomes normal again.

Sometimes, after it eventually starts, i drive it in first gear for a little bit and the car breaks itself like it's choking.
After it finally stops doing that, the car runs perfectly and the issue happens again perhaps 2-3 weeks later. So on so forth.
This is super weird and i have no idea what's going on.

Last visit to the German Car Specialist yesterday, they told me i have to replace my alternator, however, i don't believe this is the issue - since the car starts perfectly.

Note*: No check engine light has ever come on when this issue happens.

My car did something like that (as well as mis reading the fuel level) and the dealer replaced this under warranty.

I haven't had an issue since. You say that you replaced a sensor int fuel pump, could it be the same part?

I'm pretty sure this is what they replaced last time. But does this part break that easily that it has to be replaced every 2 years ? -_-

Have you done the fuel filter? It's strange you don't get any codes. Almost sounds like a loose wire or a relay. Maybe the immobilizer?

they just forgot to reset the thing after my oil change. it's fixed now. it has nothing to do with the issue i'm experiencing..

I'm guessing the car isn't getting fuel. Do you have access to a vagcom? Connect with some folks on this forum in your area (checkout the regional section and post a thread for help there).

What I would be looking for are fuel rail pressure and anything related to fueling. Also, I would run a full check on the ECU for any soft codes. It isn't uncommon for the fuel rail, pump, or an injector to fail. You could also have massive carbon build up.

If you are really fed up with it, I would definitely take it to a trusted German shop and pay the diagnostic fee to find the core issue.

I concure most likely fuel related.

I did take it to a German shop in my area yesterday. i showed them the video. they said i probably have to replace my alternator :|. But 2 years ago when i went there for the same issue, they replaced that sensor in the fuel pump.

Also, they told me to leave the car there for a while to replicate the problem - but the problem doesn't happen that often and my car would probably have to be there forever until it would finally stall like it does in the videos.

It's really frustrating.

I will tell them to vagcom it next time i go for my oil change and look for the things you mentioned.

I would suggest you get your own copy of VCDS/Vagcom and check the faults when the problem occurs. You can buy a used cable for about $200-$250 (micro can) and it will save you a bunch of time and money at the German shop you deal with.
