Carbon cleaning suggestions south west PA (near Pittsburgh)

As per the title, i'm 95% sure i need a carbon cleaning done. I've contacted the 5 closest dealers to me but i imagine there quotes will be huge.

Looking for any experiences and/or recommendations to get valve cleaning done.

My 2013 gti is close to 80k miles now, and it's never not started. In the last couple weeks however it has been starting fine but has been a little rough after start and when driving while it’s warming up, it feels sometimes like it’s juddering on low rpms and light acceleration, but if I floor it, it feels fine. I change the oil every 5k and do all other service items at their stated intervals. No CEL either..

Dealer by me on LI charges around $700. I got lucky because I needed a new intake manifold (warranty work) so they only charged me 1.5hours to clean since they had access to the valves at that point.

Even without the other work I'd still chose the dealer in this case, they usually guarantee their work for 1 year anyway.

Yep, sounds like carbon build up. Every car is different though. Some have gotten to 100k without needing to have it done while I've already had to do it twice with my car. IMO, not a question of "if," it's a question of "when."

Personally, I'd definitely go with a indy shop with a great reputation before going to a dealership, but that's just me.

Fantastic indy euro specialist near me charged about $700, but that's obviously too long of a shlep from the great city of Pittsburgh.

Not certain if he is still active in the community or not, but check out a forum member in Pittsburgh who is a great guy and offers great prices for quality work (especially carbon cleanings).

I had to replace my manifold back around 90k miles, and while it was all taken apart we did some cleaning.
