Fixing damaged Detroits

Hi all, the 18" Detroit's on my MK6 came badly guttered from the previous owner, with deep scratches on all 4 wheels. I have read that to fix these properly the wheels will need to be machined to restore the original surface and this would cost around $200 per wheel where I live.

I'm not after a perfect fix, but is there any cheap option to improve the look, just to lightly mask or cover up some of the damage? Any tips would be appreciated!

It'd be a lot of work & elbow grease, but sand them all down (but leave the black "pockets") and then polish the faces yourself

look up "Chris Fix Wheels" on youtube. He has a decent tutorial on repairing wheels with curb rash and scratches
