When we first go the Golf it had a chass 1 trailer hitch installed for carrying a bike rack by the previous owner; we soon found use for it to pull my buddy's 2 person jet ski to and from the lake, so no issues pulling a 500 pound motorcycle, as well the brakes did perfectly fine.
We have since removed the Golf Trailer hitch BUT if i had to reinstall one and since then we have upgraded from the Golf muffler and rear valance to a GTI Axle back muffler with the GTI rear valence. I would rather install the GTI Class 1 hitch as it now compatible with our Golf and mounts up hidden and more secure and does not drag close to the ground like the Golf Class 1 hitch.
