Broken Oil Cap

So I was having a look at the engine bay today and noticed something missing:

Somehow the top half of my oil reservoir cap went missing. I think it fell off because it was in there after the last time the engine bay was opened for service. Ill just get another oil cap to replace it, but its kind of a weird occurence. Has this ever happened to any of you all on here?

havent seen that happen really.

Not cheap but common styling upgrade is the R8 oil cap

^Iirc, that won't fit if you ever plan on removing the filler neck.

Yeah I'll probably just get a stock cap. I saw on ecs tuning that there's some metal caps from forge for 120 dollars

Why won't the R8 cap fit? Doesn't make any sense

I had the exact same thing happen, but I was 5 hours from home when I figured it out. Called a local VW dealer and they had a stock cap at my front door the next day for under $30. Just use a pair of channel locks to take the remaining bit out and put the new cap in.
