Procedure for Built-to-Order GTIs

Placed an order with a dealer in NYC last week (Mid Nov 2009). He says he is awaiting a build number and date from VW.

Does anyone know how long it should take to get that build date?

Any sense of when i can expect delivery?

THX for your help!

I ordered mine in mid Oct..
rumor is mid February..
I was TOLD originally mid January..
I might cancel I arrive in the UK mid January im not renting a car for a month.

Thats pretty good, considering most people wait 3 months.

I ordered mine on July 17, It arrived to The US on October 17, and arrived (by truck) to Seattle on October 27. It took a day to unwrap and clean, so I picked it up the next day.

It seems like it takes exactly 3 months from the day you order, to get the US. Then a few more days depending where you live.

Deals on Ordered GTIs

I got $300 over dealer invoice and about $1000 over true cost. I got every option except for the 18" wheels.

Passed Driver's Ed
Ordered mine Oct 13 and received it on Dec 28th. Paid 200 over invoice. I used Edmunds.com and used the true market value to negotiate my deal.
