1.4 tsi making drone sound in 1st and 2nd under acceleration

Hi,
Yesterday I bought a mk6 golf, 59 plate, 1.4 tsi engine with just over 29,000 miles on. I admit I got the car a bit cheap (£6,150) but not the deal of a lifetime. Basically, when I'm crawling in 1st gear, or accelerating through 1st and 2nd gear, the car makes a weird noise, as if someone is pushing their finger round the top of a wine glass? And the vibrations run all the way through the car. Obviously I test drove the car and heard it, however after about 15 minutes I came to the conclusion it was the exhaust after having a friend sit in the car and throttle it. As of this morning I'm fairly certain it's coming from the front of the car and I'm absolutely clueless as to what it could be;
Any help or idea would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you,
JP

It sounds like what you are describing is the accessory drive belt. Poor a little bit of water from a water bottle on to it and see if the noise changes.

Sorry can't help with your question, I'd just take it to a VAG specialist garage to get it looked at. And also, I would have probably asked questions if I saw a 1.4 TSI with under 30k miles for just over 6k

Cheers, I tried the water idea but to no prevail, I'm absolutely clueless what it is so I think the VAG is the way to go. It just sounds as if it's rubbing, it's quite hard to explain, but it vibrates through the accelerator and it's just, loud.

Thanks anyway
(I'll try put up an update later)
