Folks have done it but very poor choice of car to start with especially if you have one with automatic trans, shift points would be all weird and trans probably won't hold the power.
Also the cost would be way more than its worth even if you do all your own work.
Just an opinion. If that doesn't discourage you, check in with
Black Forest Industries as they did such a project a few years back, again with a manual trans car.
