Engine cover halp

Marky Mark1

So I’m installing a cold air intake and no longer require the engine cover. There’s an aluminum piece that the engine grommets sit on and am wondering if it’s able to removed? Pic for reference

I wouldn't. That's a heat shield.

Yeah they come off if you brake all the plastic I believe there 10mm that fits on the screw, cts turbo has a heat shield that mounts there

You can take them off no problem. Make sure you have the right socket or you will strip it. If you do end up stripping it you can break the plastic and you will find a metal post inside with a 10mm to remove. It is a heatshield though, so id only remove if replacing with an aftermarket one

Echo that.. .not like it's a performance upgrade. I would leave it in place. YOu'll just have the turbo heat now trapped under the hood instead of behind that shield and who know's how it'll impact the CAI you just installed.
