Cost of timing chain tensioner replacement

I can't say enough good things about AST in Brampton, those guys have the knowledge and they stand behind their work..

There's another thread lower down where someone went to AST for just the tensioner with labor for $500.. Not sure how that compares to the other shops, but it give you an idea of the cost...

Wow! That’s a huge difference comparing to what I paid. This is why one should always shop around for the best price possible!

I went to AST in Brampton to get my tensioner updated.
Note: I did not go for the full timing chain replacement, just the tensioner.
Here is the breakdown of the cost:

They did not replace the lower timing cover.
OEM Updated Timing Chain Tensioner - $87.88
Timing Cover Sealant - $25
Crank Bolt- $13
Labour -$315
Total: $440.88
with Tax: $498.19

Hope this helps in choosing which place to go to.

Thanks for this! I’m going to make sure I check out AST in Brampton, Ontario before I go to any other VW/Audi shops.

I got the tensioner in my GTI updated, but paid twice what you paid...
