What the hell is this.

Anyone know what the hell this is? I just recently bought this GTI and while I was doing an oil change I noticed this. I squeezed the end of it and the white stuff inside pretty much crumbled. Was afraid a check engine light was gonna come on but it didn’t.

If I'm right...fresh air supply line for the flapper.

VW added a third air supply line to the manifold flap valve unit. This required a new "fresh air" line to be installed with your new manifold, and this air should be filtered to avoid damage from foreign particles. The hose included in this kit connects to the top side of the valve and prevents dirt and debris from contaminating the valve.

I have no idea if you can just replace the foam.

Well my check engine light came on today. Code: P2015 intake manifold runner sensor switch. Thank you for the link on ECS I could not find anything on what the hell this was! I’m gonna see if I can get a replacement line. I doubt just changing the foam inside. Lesson learned don’t squeeze the tip lol
