Cast Aluminum Water Pump Kit from USP

Funny, when describing the install in the video at first, it was described as a fairly complicated install. Then later described as not too hard of an install. :iono:

My GTI has ~89,000 miles on it.. I wonder if I should go ahead and replace this. To my knowledge, the cooling system has never been serviced.

Anyone know how this kit is any different than what urotuning or DAP are offering? https://www.shopdap.com/water-pump-kit-aluminum-for-2-0t-tsi.html

Not sure which version you have but my understanding is that our water pumps (especially the older versions) are time bombs. I have MY13; mine was replaced with an updated version under warranty @ 12,000 miles; I was thankfully able to limp my way to the dealership when it happened.

The kit from Shopdap looks the same I think?

The only reasons a stock water pump fails is either poor installation, which is more common than you would expect, and over revving the engine.

I don't see any benefits from this other than it will absorb more heat from your engine. plastic is a horrible transferer of heat, and why the OEM housing is plastic.

FCP Euro also offers lifetime warranty on anything you buy from them including wear and tear items. OEM parts that work...

For those who may be interested in this information, I have a 2012 Mk6 CBFA GTI (CBFA is a royal PITA).

Next water pump just bit the dust so my shop ordered a Graf aluminum water pump since everything says vehicles after 2010 don't have the electrical connector on the pump, well joy in finding out the CBFA motors do...

They kept the vehicle for a week and bolted the aluminum pump up, it threw a CEL as expected...
They checked out the functioning of the new pump without the extra connection over the week and found it was functioning as expected without issue.
They simply coded out the electrical connector for the pump and everything looks to be working as expected.

The shop that did this for me is Alex's Autohaus (https://www.alexsautohaus.com/) in Utah if anyone is interested in doing the same thing or wants to reach out to ask any questions.
