Headlight restoration... kit or professional?

Alright, so I have a 2011, and it's pretty decent as far as cosmetically speaking goes. No dings, dents, or serious scratches... but the headlights... the fucking headlights man, they look pretty old (which they are) but it sucks that I dropped a premium on the HID option to get this as a result.

I tried having them professionally done about a year or two ago, but the results were less than stellar. My headlights have that weird quick cool to hot crazing effect... which might as well be micro-fissures or imperfections in the plastic. That stuff won't sand off, but I'm seeing some of that yellowing or discoloration take effect so I want to know what the recommendations are to get rid of it... get a do-it-yourself kit (one without a drill attachment since mine is dead) or go professional again... in which the idiot didn't tape off the painted area around the headlight and scratched it up. I still feel like I should start a shitfit over that, but it's probably too late now. I'll try and get some pics up soon, but it's dark out.

I was looking into this for my brothers G63 AMG it’s got the micro fissures as you mentioned, I doubt these can be removed,
I saw this kit that doesn’t use a drill bit have no idea if it would work well,

Search “headlight UV” on eBay and lots of other options like this come up!

I’ve always used meguiars ultimate polish (machine applied) and then wax on my headlights and have never had degradation issues over the many years of doing it.

I think the patina or whatever it is that crusts on is more prone in tropical climates. Living in FL, it happens after a while. Normally I'd just say fuck it and replace them, but it's still a heavy price to pay for something that still works fine... just doesn't look great.

It will certainly be linked to the Florida climate, new lenses are an option but I understand the old lenses use a hard set permanent glue so are very difficult (but not impossible) to remove, new lenses are pretty cheap however!
