Nice car! My car is your 6mt twin, haha.

I really like your intake and have been planning on doing something similar myself. Where did you get the rubber stuff for the top of your heat shield?

Looks great so far dude, keep posts coming!

Like the first future mod ;) its the best driveability mod IMHO.

I'm glad you feel that way LOL. I'm excited about this mod, hopefully can get this maybe sometime late spring/early summer.

Since you're APR Stage II as well, what are the biggest differences that you noticed? Any change in the power delivery/torque curve?

AWESOME! I really appreciate the compliments!

This is really the first time that anyone has actually seen the things that I have done to my car, so to get some positive feedback means a lot.

As for the rubber trim. I purchased it from an ebay seller that deals in RV parts and accessories. I believe its to be used as a door and window sealant but it works really well for my particular application. When the hood is shut, it completely seals the top of the heat shield. He sold it by the foot, only had 6 ft left so I bought all 6 just to have extra. If you search around you can probably find him or something similar. I "might" have the receipt with his name and info on it at home if you want me to check.

Good luck on your custom intake, and post up some pics when you get it done. The time and effort is worth it. I love mine, it cost a fraction of what a name brand does, sounds and performs GREAT, no whistle, I can modify it, and I can say its a one of a kind. A win all around!

I definitely prefer to do custom stuff when I can. I owned a Jeep before my GTI and most jeep mods require a hacksaw, so I had a bit of sticker shock looking at parts for the new ride.

I'll probably look around lowes to see if they have anything similar to your seal strip when I go to get my sheet metal. I'm just not sure where I'm going to get my piping cause I don't like the chrome crap they have at autozone. May just see if my local exhaust place has some 3" tube they can bend and give me, haha.

Sounds good! Going with a solid, one piece of pipe (preferably stainless) would be the way to go. Would definitely take some tweaking to get the bends just right, hopefully the exhaust shop will be patient and willing LOL. Unfortunately I went with the Spectre polished pieces since I didn't have any other options really. It took a 22 and 30 degree pipe and a straight or two to get the desired result. Had to take a few inches off the 22 or else it was too long and interfered with the battery box. The bends mimic the stock "rubber accordion" pipe EXACTLY.

Meant to ask you before, where did you get that little filter for the CBFA extra tube? I talked to my muffler shop and they said they would bend me a pipe for the front, so I may be building my intake over Christmas ?

The small filter is the APR Breather Filter for CBFA:

https://store.goapr.com/products/Breather-filter-for-CBFA.html

A little pricey, but the fit is perfect. Clicks into place tightly. Cable ties are to tie back the tube in whichever position you want. Might be able to find it cheaper if you search, but not sure.

Awesome that the muffler shops willing help ya. Keep in mind the quality of the steel and how you want to finish it/seal it. Keep me updated on your intake. Good Luck!

Installed R8 Coil Packs today. Did a quick little pic diy, photos are posted on my flickr site. Car feels good. Almost seems smoother but probably just a placebo effect.

Also shortened my boost gauge tubing by almost a foot. Gauge seems quicker.

Santa got me a 6" orbital waxer/polisher and according to the wife more is still on the way (she got me the coils too).

What better thing to do on a dreary, rainy day here in the burgh then install a new battery (thank god for having a garage). Ended up going with an Interstate Battery from NTB. Cold starts were taking longer, so it was time. The fit was tight, its a little larger then oem but the cover fits and that's all I was worried about. Don't have to worry about cold starts anymore! Threw up a few pics on my Flickr site if anyone's curious.
