Does anyone know of a more general-use HUD projector on the market at all? i.e. connect it to a phone/laptop as an external or mirrored display and put whatever we want on it?

The Navigon app is my go-to GPS solution, and it is excellent. I'll be in for one of these once they are actually available for sale.

Doesn't have to be marketed for car use, just anything that projects onto glass. I'm assuming it would have to be something made for use in a business/home due to said legal reasons. Imagine just throwing something like the Torque app or Google Nav up on HUD. There is no reason it can't be done, the technology exists and is cheap-ish (see $129 Garmin projector).

all we really need is the Film which is like 6 dollars shipped in a 4x6 inch piece

now the hard part...........an application that reverses the image on the phone...all the time.

so whoever can do the app..get on it... LOL

The app works without the display... it's an add on accessory. You don't need it to use your phone as the Garmin GPS unit.
